Sorry, I wasn't intending it to look like I was calling him an idiot
specifically. I meant in general.

Not correct, I would be more than happy to point out in person when
somebody is making a mistake or not following best practise in any
situation.

No, I believe your (and others) over-reaction to being corrected on
certain issues is 'not what is wanted'. 

Personally I believe Gareth can get a little carried away and perhaps
could have explained in a less condesending manner, however fundamentally
he is correct and so I will back him up. 

It takes a big man to realise his mistakes and correct them rather than
taking offense.
