Which is a damn shame, because we had so much to offer. The problem being
the 'vision' (which unfortunatelty was at least 12months out of date)
didn't take off quick enough due to one thing or another, then ADSL became
much widely available. However, we should have adapted to it rather than
trying to compete with it ie. offered local community facilities, email
accounts, NAS facilities being the main service on offer with the
possibility of internet access.
There were a very small group of us left before the final hurdle about
12months ago, but we just couldn't get enough support to keep going as a
group.
Many would say Manchester Wireless never achieved anything physical. It
did, the spin off Warrington Wireless. There are only a couple of us left
on Warrington Wireless network, but we are aiming to offer NAS facililies
and proper domain authentication in the not so distant future. It is now a
closed network, but running strong.
If it wasn't for certain members help on Manchester Wireless, Warrington
Wireless would never have seen the light of day. So a big thank you again
for all your help :)
Andy :)
